PESHAWAR, Aug 27: At least two people, including a police officer, were killed and three others injured in two separate hand-grenade incidents in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Thursday, police said.
In the first incident, unidentified attackers targeted a vehicle with a hand grenade in Sararogha area of South Waziristan, killing a police official and critically injuring another man. Security agencies launched a search operation to trace the attackers.
In a separate incident in Tarwikot area of Upper Kurram district, a hand grenade exploded following a minor altercation. Police said one person was killed in the blast after a man accidentally detonated the grenade while handling it.
The deceased was identified as Johar Hussain, while Johar Hussain and Shoaid Hussain sustained injuries and were shifted to a hospital.
Authorities have launched investigations into both incidents amid growing concerns over violence and militant activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
