New Delhi, Aug 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted people on Raksha Bandhan, wishing that the festival brings happiness, prosperity and success to everyone.
Continuing an annual tradition, schoolgirls visited the Prime Minister's official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, where they tied rakhis on his wrist.
Modi shared photographs and a video of the celebrations on social media, showing him interacting warmly with the children, shaking hands and exchanging high-fives.
"Happy Raksha Bandhan. May this auspicious festival bring happiness, prosperity, and success to all your lives," Modi said in a post on X.
He also expressed hope that the bonds of affection, togetherness and mutual trust celebrated through the festival remain eternal.
"Some memorable moments from Raksha Bandhan celebrations at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. May this festival deepen the bonds of affection and harmony. May it bring happiness and prosperity to everyone," he said.
Sharing another glimpse of his interaction with the children, Modi wrote, "High-fives, smiles and more during today's Raksha Bandhan celebrations at 7, LKM."
During the interaction, one of the children asked the Prime Minister about his childhood dream. Modi replied, "Aap logo ko milna" (To meet you all).
Raksha Bandhan celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. On the occasion, sisters tie rakhis around their brothers' wrists as a symbol of affection, prayers and goodwill, while brothers traditionally offer gifts and reaffirm their commitment to protecting and supporting their sisters.
