MLA Sham Lal Sharma Hails Engineers for Their Contribution to Nation-Building and Social Progress


Jammu, 15 September 2026: Engineers’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and dignity at Golden’s Day Care & Recreation Centre for Senior Citizens, Lower Roop Nagar, Jammu. The programme was jointly organised by the Engineers and Management Committee of Golden’s Day Care Centre to honour the valuable contribution of engineers towards nation-building, infrastructure development and social progress.


Sham Lal Sharma, MLA Jammu North, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he appreciated the efforts of Golden’s Day Care Centre in promoting the welfare, health, recreation and active ageing of senior citizens. He congratulated the engineering fraternity on Engineers’ Day and highlighted the important role played by engineers in shaping modern society through innovation, technology, infrastructure development and dedicated public service.


Sharma paid rich tribute to Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, whose birth anniversary is observed as Engineers’ Day in India. Recalling his exemplary life, technical vision, discipline and commitment to national development, he said that his legacy continues to inspire generations. He emphasised that engineers have a vital role in creating the infrastructure and systems that support development and improve the quality of life of citizens.


The MLA also acknowledged the valuable experience and distinguished services of the senior engineer members of Golden’s Day Care Centre, many of whom have rendered dedicated service in various departments and organisations during their professional careers. He said that retirement should not be viewed as the end of contribution, but as the beginning of a new phase in which experience, knowledge and wisdom can continue to benefit society. He appreciated the Centre for providing senior citizens with opportunities for social interaction, recreation and active engagement.


The celebration featured cultural and recreational activities, creating an atmosphere of friendship, fellowship and togetherness among the senior citizens. A special lunch was also organised by the engineers of the Centre for all members and invited guests. The Centre’s Coordinators and Management Committee expressed their gratitude to the engineer members for their continued association and contribution towards strengthening the activities of the Centre.


During the programme, forthcoming infrastructure requirements of the Centre were also placed before Sham Lal Sharma, MLA Jammu North, for consideration, including installation of PP tiles in the front ground and allied works through his CDF, as well as installation of ESCL lights in the premises of Golden’s Day Care Centre by the Jammu Municipal Corporation. Sharma assured his continued support for initiatives aimed at improving the facilities and overall welfare of the Centre.


The programme was attended by senior engineer members, distinguished guests, Coordinators, members of the Management Committee and senior citizens of Golden’s Day Care Centre. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, distinguished guests, engineer members, Coordinators, Management Committee and all participants for making the occasion memorable and successful.
