DIPR Announces Cash Prizes Worth Crores Across Nine Categories At First IFFJK

Srinagar, Aug 28: The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) has announced cash awards across nine categories for the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) 2026, scheduled to be held from September 7 to 10 at SKICC Srinagar, Gulmarg and Jammu.

The awards are aimed at recognising excellence in filmmaking, acting and technical crafts, while providing a platform to showcase and honour both established and emerging cinematic talent.

The Best Film award carries the highest cash prize of Rs 25 lakh. The Best Director and Best Debut Film of a Director categories will carry prizes of Rs 15 lakh each, highlighting the festival's focus on both experienced filmmakers and new voices.

To promote films reflecting Jammu and Kashmir's distinctive cultural and social landscape, DIPR has announced a Rs 10 lakh prize for Best Film – J&K Select.

The festival will also recognise acting talent, with Rs 8 lakh each for Best Actor (Male) and Best Actor (Female).

In the technical categories, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design and Best Editing will carry cash prizes of Rs 5 lakh each.

The award framework is part of DIPR's broader effort to create an ecosystem that recognises creative achievement, technical expertise, individual performances and regional talent.

The inaugural IFFJK is also intended to strengthen Jammu and Kashmir's presence on the international cinematic map by providing filmmakers opportunities to showcase their work, promoting cultural exchange and encouraging both emerging and established artists.
