KATHMANDU, SEPT 16: Two earthquakes struck northwestern Nepal in the early hours of Wednesday, according to authorities. No casualties or property damage were reported immediately following the tremors.
The National Seismological Research Centre said the first earthquake, measuring 4.5 magnitude, occurred at around 1:51 am local time.
A second tremor of 4.2 magnitude was recorded at approximately 4:28 am, with its epicentre also located near Kalai in Mugu district.
The earthquakes were felt in neighbouring Dolpa and Jumla districts, prompting concern among residents. However, authorities said there were no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage.
Nepal lies in a seismically active region and experiences earthquakes of varying intensity from time to time. Authorities are continuing to monitor the affected areas for possible aftershocks and any delayed reports of damage.
Residents have been advised to remain alert and follow official safety instructions in case of further seismic activity.
