Traffic Restrictions Announced In Srinagar Ahead Of International Film Festival

Srinagar, Sept 7: Traffic restrictions and diversions have been announced across several parts of Srinagar in view of the inauguration of the first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) on Monday evening.

According to a traffic advisory issued by the Traffic Police Srinagar, heavy vehicular movement towards SKICC is expected after 4 PM. To facilitate the smooth movement of dignitaries, participants and guests, restrictions will be imposed on Gupkar Road and adjoining routes.

General traffic on Gupkar Road will remain restricted from 4 PM to 7 PM, with only invitees, participants, VVIPs and festival staff allowed to use the route during this period.

Restrictions will also be enforced at Badyari Chowk and Brein Chowk for vehicles heading towards the SKICC-Nehru Park area. However, hotel guests and local residents will be allowed to proceed.

As part of the traffic management plan, vehicles travelling towards Nishat will be diverted via Gupkar and Hazratbal. Similarly, traffic approaching from Nishat and Harwan will be diverted towards Hazratbal to ease congestion around SKICC.

The restrictions and diversions will remain in force from 4 PM on September 7 until 7 PM, or until the inauguration ceremony concludes, whichever is later, the advisory said.

Traffic Police has advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance, avoid restricted routes and follow the directions of personnel deployed in the area.

Emergency vehicles will be permitted to take the shortest possible route, subject to necessary traffic management arrangements.

For traffic-related assistance, commuters can contact the Traffic Police Control Room at 103.

The first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir is being inaugurated at SKICC, with the traffic measures aimed at ensuring smooth movement of dignitaries, participants and guests attending the event.
