PM Narendra Modi Urges Productive Parliament Session

New Delhi, July 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for constructive and fact-based discussions during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, saying there was no place for disruption if debates were guided by logic and evidence. Addressing reporters ahead of the start of the session, Modi urged lawmakers across party lines to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament and provide every member an opportunity to express their views. “I believe where there are facts, there is no need for chaos. If your logic and facts are strong, there is no need to raise your voice. Every voice should find an opportunity to be heard. That is the role of Parliament,” the Prime Minister said. Drawing a comparison between the rainy season and the parliamentary session, Modi said both become beneficial when they are proactive and productive. “We pray that the monsoon remains proactive and the Monsoon Session remains productive,” he added. The Prime Minister’s remarks came as the Opposition prepared to raise several issues during the session, including the alleged Ram temple donation theft, the NEET paper leak and the E20 petrol policy. Modi also spoke about the impact of the ongoing conflict in West Asia, saying energy-importing countries such as India had faced significant challenges due to disruptions in the supply of petroleum products, LPG and fertilisers. Despite these hurdles, he said, India continued to be the world’s fastest-growing major economy with a growth rate of 7.7 per cent. Highlighting the country’s recent achievements, Modi said India had made significant progress in sectors such as space, energy, manufacturing and transportation over the past month. He referred to the success of an Indian youth-led space start-up, describing it as a milestone that reflected the limitless potential and aspirations of the country’s youth. The Prime Minister also cited the inauguration of a major oil refinery, a semiconductor manufacturing plant and India’s first hydrogen-powered train as examples of the country’s growing technological capabilities. He said these achievements were the result of the efforts of Indian innovators, engineers and entrepreneurs, supported by the government’s reform initiatives. Modi said the reforms undertaken by his government had encouraged young Indians to pursue ambitious goals and contribute to the country’s development through innovation and enterprise.
