ISLAMABAD, SEPT 16: Pakistan has extended its airspace restrictions on Indian aircraft for another month, with the ban now set to remain in force until October 24, according to a notification issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Wednesday.
The restriction applies to Indian-registered aircraft as well as aircraft owned, operated or leased by Indian airlines and operators. The notification also includes military flights.
According to the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), the extension came into effect at 10:45 am on Wednesday and will remain effective until 4:59 am on October 24, 2026.
The latest extension comes ahead of the expiry of the previous restriction, which was scheduled to end on September 24.
India and Pakistan introduced reciprocal airspace restrictions on each other’s airlines following the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025, further affecting aviation operations between the two countries.
Pakistan’s airspace is divided into two Flight Information Regions (FIRs) — Karachi and Lahore — under the country’s civil aviation framework. The latest NOTAM covers both the Karachi and Lahore FIRs.
The continued restriction means Indian commercial and military aircraft will remain barred from using the designated Pakistani airspace until the newly announced expiry date, unless the measure is modified or withdrawn earlier.
