No Resentment Within National Conference Over Cabinet Expansion: J&K Minister Sakina Itoo

SRINAGAR, October 28: Jammu and Kashmir Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday dismissed reports of resentment within the ruling National Conference (NC) following the recent cabinet expansion, saying any grievances among party members would be addressed internally.

The expansion of the council of ministers on Tuesday, which saw four new members from the Kashmir Valley inducted, reportedly triggered discontent among some party leaders who were overlooked for ministerial positions.

Senior NC leaders and MLAs Mubarak Gul and Abdul Majeed Larmi openly expressed their disappointment over not being included in the expanded Cabinet.

Responding to the developments, Itoo compared the situation to a family in which it is not always possible to accommodate everyone at the same time.

“If there are 10 children in a family, even parents cannot accommodate all the children at the exact same time,” she said.

The minister maintained that party members had the democratic right to express their concerns within the organisation and insisted that the situation did not amount to resentment.

She also accused opposition parties of exaggerating the issue for political gain, alleging that they were attempting to portray the cabinet expansion as a sign of internal discord within the ruling party.
