NC Pays Tribute to Sheikh Abdullah on 44th Death Anniversary

SRINAGAR, Sep 8: National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday paid floral tributes to party founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his 44th death anniversary.

The Abdullahs visited Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s mausoleum at Naseembagh in the Hazratbal area of Srinagar and offered floral tributes to the veteran leader, popularly known as Sher-e-Kashmir.

Special prayers and supplications were also offered in his memory. Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah is credited with introducing several measures aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of Jammu and Kashmir, including the Land to Tiller Act.

Several NC ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior party leaders attended the commemorative function.

In a post on X, the National Conference described Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah as a towering figure whose life was dedicated to the dignity, rights and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Today, on 8 September, we observe the 44th death anniversary of Baba-e-Quom, Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. We remember his leadership, honour his legacy and pay tribute to a towering figure who continues to inspire generations,” the party said.
