iPhone 18 Pro Series Goes On Sale In India, Long Queues Outside Apple Stores

MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 18: Apple's latest iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max went on sale in India on Friday, drawing large crowds of technology enthusiasts to Apple stores across major cities.

The devices officially became available from 8 AM, with Apple outlets in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Noida witnessing significant crowds as customers arrived to purchase the company's latest flagship smartphones.

At the Apple Store in Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), the launch generated particular excitement. Several customers reportedly reached the store hours before opening, with some spending the night outside to secure their preferred model, colour and storage variant.

The launch also attracted buyers from outside Mumbai. Customers from different parts of Maharashtra and neighbouring Gujarat travelled to the BKC store specifically for the first day of sales.

One customer from Nashik said he reached the outlet around 10 PM on Thursday and waited overnight. Other buyers reported spending around 10 to 12 hours in the queue.

Many customers had pre-booked their devices online and waited for their turn to enter the store and collect them. Some buyers were also seen picking up multiple handsets booked for family members.

However, customers without prior bookings faced difficulties in obtaining certain models, colours and storage configurations as stocks of some variants were limited. Some prospective buyers reportedly left without their preferred devices.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 for the 256GB variant, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900. The smartphones are available in black, silver, glacier and a new burgundy finish.

The latest Pro models are powered by Apple's A20 Pro chip and are being sold through Apple's online and physical stores, as well as authorised retail partners across India.

Pre-orders for the new models began on September 12, allowing customers to reserve their preferred configurations ahead of the nationwide retail launch.

The scenes outside Apple BKC and other major outlets echoed previous iPhone launches, with enthusiasts once again queuing for several hours and travelling long distances to get their hands on the latest devices on the first day of sales.
